Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

To build your Shield Assessment, we collect what you give us directly:

• Your name, email, and phone number (phone is optional)
• Where you're moving from, where you're moving to, and your move date
• The quotes and documents you upload, like contracts or bills of lading
• Any notes or questions you send with your order

2. How we use it

We use this information only to build and send your audit, to talk with you about your order, and to run and improve Shield My Move. We do not sell your personal information or your uploaded documents.

We also send transactional emails needed to run the service: confirming your order, verifying your email address, following up on missing intake information, delivering your report, and reaching you about a security issue with your account or order. These aren't marketing emails, and we send them whether or not you've opted into marketing.

3. Sharing with third parties

We do not share your quotes or contracts with the moving companies you're checking. We may use outside services to run core parts of the business, like payment processing, secure file storage, and email delivery. Those services can only use your information to provide that service to us, nothing else.

4. Security and audit information

To operate the service safely and protect our customers, we also collect and keep technical and transactional information in the background of every order, including things like: your IP address, browser/user-agent information, request identifiers, timestamps, order and transaction identifiers, Stripe Checkout Session and payment-related identifiers, payment status, your email address, and records of document-submission and account-security activity.

We use this information to provide the service, prevent fraud and abuse, secure our systems, investigate disputes, confirm what happened on a given order, enforce ourTerms, protect our customers and Shield My Move, and meet legal obligations that apply to us.

An IP address or similar technical detail, by itself, doesn't prove who a person is. We treat it as one part of a broader audit trail, not standalone proof of identity.

5. Storage and retention

We keep order, customer, and transaction records for as long as reasonably necessary for business, tax, legal, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution purposes.

Raw technical/security request data described in Section 4 (things like IP address, user-agent, and request identifiers captured at the time of a request) is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for those same purposes. As a general operational target, that's up to 24 months, unless we need to hold it longer to meet a legal, tax, dispute, fraud, or regulatory requirement.

Once information is no longer reasonably needed for these purposes, we delete it, anonymize it, or aggregate it. We're still finalizing exact document encryption and storage specifics alongside the rest of our order system, and will update this section as those details are locked in. Any security claim we make here will match what's actually in place at that time.

6. Cookies and analytics

This website does not currently use ad trackers or third-party analytics scripts. If that changes, we'll update this section to say what's collected and how to opt out.

7. Your choices

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to delete it, or ask a question about how it's handled, at any time. Deletion requests for records we're required to keep for tax, legal, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes may be honored once that need has passed rather than immediately. 8. Children's privacy

Shield My Move is for adults arranging their own moves. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make a big change to this policy, we'll update this page and its effective date. If it affects an active or recent order, we'll let you know directly too.
